I was born in New Mexico and raised in New York and Los Angeles.
After graduating from high school in Southern California, I went on to study industrial design at the Arizona State University School of Environmental Design. I worked for fifteen years in product design and manufacturing in the Los Angeles area.
In 1999, while expecting my first of two children, my wife and I quit our city jobs and moved to Humboldt County, on the Northern California coast. There I studied traditional oil painting techniques as an apprentice for six months, and began to paint, show, and sell my work professionally, while keeping my hand in design through my work designing furniture and architectural millwork.
